And so, I turned them down and told them to find something else to do. Like little troopers, they dropped their guns and moved on to something else. This is what I love about kids... for the most part, they're easy going little people who are always looking for ways to fill up their days with joy and adventure. Kids are healthy! They are such excellent role models! So these two little cutie pies inspired this blog:
Healthy... what does that mean exactly?
Why did life have to get so serious. Yes, of course, there are bills to pay and many of us have a kids that need taking care of and activities that require us to live in our vehicles.
But why does it all have to be so serious? Where is the joy? Where is the adventure? Kids literally dedicate their entire day to seeking out fun things to do to entertain themselves. When was the last time you woke up in the morning and thought to yourself, "What am I going to do today that will bring me joy and adventure?" You may be rolling your eyes thinking, "I don't have time for joy and adventure." And while that may be true, it just doesn't seem like a good enough excuse anymore.
Everyone is busy, we are all super duper busy people. I bet there isn't a single person reading this who gets up every morning and has the luxury of having absolutely nothing to do. You will live busy and you will die busy!
Everyone is always talking about being healthy. "Gotta get healthy. Gotta eat healthier. Gotta exercise more often." We have this huge illusion that getting healthy has everything to do with the food on our plate and the amount of time we spend running on a treadmill or jumping up and down on a gym floor.
And yes, this is true, food and exercise is very important in a healthy lifestyle. But what about our spirit and our mind. When was the last time you heard someone say, "After work, I'm going to find some joy and adventure." or "This morning I got up and had some amazing joy and adventure!"
A crazy busy and stressful life is as bad as 5 double quarter pounder cheese burgers with a an order of 3 supersized french fries and an extra large pop. Do we see this though? Do we actually understand that neglecting our spirit and mind is just as bad as a all-you-can-eat buffet with not a single vegetable in sight?
The point is, it's all about balance. So whether you're trying to lose weight, gain weight, or love yourself the way you are, I hope you'll remember these very important facts: If you've got the healthy plate and the regular workout routine but your missing joy and adventure... well, you ain't healthy. And if you've got joy and adventure, but your plate is a disgrace and so is your level of physical acitivity... well, you still ain't healthy. And if you don't have any of the above... well this may possibly be an excellent opportunity for you to see why your life is the way it is.
You can't be healthy when all parts of yourself are being neglected. And when all parts of yourself are neglected, you are sure to be living an unhappy life.
Body Love believes the following.
You are composed of 3 major parts: Spirit, Mind & Body. Get to know them. Feed ALL of them. They ALL get hungry. All parts of yourself deserve nourishment. All parts of yourself require love and attention. This is the essence of balance. This is the key to experiencing freedom in your life! This is being healthy!
